Pain! Aches! Kidney Stones Remedies That Pass Kidney Stones at Home

Did you know that you can find literally millions of sites about information on kidney stones remedies? Though many sites claim a cure, it is important that you know if the remedy is researched and legitimate.

Though natural health research is at an all time high, there are still hundreds of quacks out there. It is important that you educate yourself about what works and WHY it works. Many people naively look at a list of ingredients from their refrigerator and make a concoction. And NOTHING!

The truth is that most kidney stone remedies work by either flushing the stone or dissolving the stones. Here are some tips to start your home treatment.

5 Kidney Stones Remedies to Try at Home

1. Probably the simplest and most common remedy for kidney stones is to drink plenty of water. But how much? Most research shows that you should drink about 16 ounces (2 cups) of water for every 2 hours you are awake. This will keep your kidneys regularly flushed if you do this for at least 2 weeks.

2. While you are drinking water, it is also recommended that you supplement a lemon with your water. Cut up a lemon and add to your water throughout the day. The acidity from the lemon is said to help break up (dissolve) the kidney stones over time. This is why many researched remedies sometimes use lemon juice.

3. It is amazing all the benefits that exercise gives the body. Did you know that many of our kidney stone customers have finally passed their stones after consistently exercising for a few weeks? Researchers state that exercise makes all bodily systems run more efficiently, including your kidneys.

4. Your diet is also important in the fight against kidney stones. Fruits and vegetables (water soluble fiber) should make up 35% of your diet. This is because both fruits and vegetables not only give your body essential minerals and vitamins but also help flush the liver, kidneys, colon and gallbladder.

5. Finally, we also recommend phosphoric acid. Phosphoric acid can be found in foods, beverages and even house cleaners. Obviously, you should NOT drink house cleaners! But phosphoric acid is used in cleaning products because it breaks apart calcium build up. It is used in beverages for a citrusy taste. And it is also used for a kidney stone remedy because it will break apart kidney stones so they can be passed painlessly. Find this remedy at Kidney Stones Remedies.

Commonly Suggested Ear Ache Remedies

A viral or bacterial infection of the middle ear is called Acute Otitis Media. It usually results from a complication of an allergy or common cold. This type of infection is more frequent in children. However, symptoms as well as treatments are basically the same for older children and adults.

With Acute Otitis Media, your ear will feel painful while showcasing a red and bulging eardrum. Depending on the gravity, most people heal from this infection without the need for antibiotics or treatment. However, since ENT doctors cannot predict whose infection will heal on their own, ENT doctors still prescribe antibiotics like Amoxicillin to all its patients, especially the ones who experiences it severely or if the symptoms have not subsided after 72 hrs.

Since pain relief is vital, most doctors also prescribe pain relievers like Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen like Tylenol. However, if there is persistent or severe pain accompanied by fever and bulging of the eardrum, Myringotomy should be performed by the ENT specialist.

The ENT specialist will create an opening onto the ear drum to drain the fluid from the Otitis Media or middle ear. This opening will just heal in time; no treatment is necessary. Thus, the procedure will not affect one's hearing. Thus, for those who frequently experience Acute Otitis Media, ENT doctors will suggest to have your Tympanostomy or drainage tubes placed inside your eardrums.

These days, more and more people are becoming practical and self-reliant. Although it is a general rule not to self medicate, especially with kids, there are those who still prefer conventional ways of curing themselves.

Alcohol and White Vinegar

This remedy is said to be particularly effective for a Charley horse. Scrub 3 lemons, 2 oranges and one grapefruit. Cut up all the fruit and put them in a blender, peel and all. People tend to tense up in the neck area, especially if they are under pressure. When you create tension in your neck, you impair the flow of energy throughout your system, since your neck connects your brain and nervous system to the rest of your body.

Try doing neck rolls. With your chin on your chest, start slowly rotating your head so your right ear reaches for your right shoulder, then head back, left ear to left shoulder, and back. Repeat this, slowly, six times in one direction and six times in the opposite direction, morning and evening. Don't be surprised to hear lots of crackling, crunching and greavelly noises coming from your neck. As tension releases, noise will quiet.

If you have been reading many of my articles, you have seen that garlic has been good for just about any ailment. We will include it here too - if you hear and feel like there's gravel in your neck, eat three or four cloves of raw garlic every day. You may have to work up to that amount.

Several Native American tribes' medicine men and healers prescribe daily neck rubs with fresh lemon juice, as well as drinking the juice of 1/2 lemon twice a day.

Reflexology comes into play here, as the base of the big toe affects the neck. Get your hands warm by rubbing together vigorously until you feel heat. Massage your big toes with circular motions. Also, you might want to massage the base of your thumbs. Do one or the other at least two times a day, every day.

Anyone who has been in a car accident and suffered whiplash knows how it affects the neck. What your neck needs is a realignment of the neck vertebrae. Visit a naturopath, chiropractor of osteopath. During this time, wear a silk scarf, since it has been known to help blood circulation and relieve muscle pain.

Stomach Ache Remedies - The Natural Way

The vital functions of digestion and assimilation of food take place in the stomach. In addition, this vital organ also prepares the food in such a way that it is passed into the intestinal tract in a form which is easily absorbed.

Enzymes and gastric acids also break down the food particles, and strong muscles grind the food to ensure proper mixing of all the food particles. Food stays in the stomach, which could also be described as a holding bay, and then this food is passed on to the intestinal tract only when it is ready to be absorbed by the intestines.

Physical Symptoms Of stomach Aches

There are different kinds of physical symptoms that are associated with stomach or abdominal pain. Among the many symptoms induced by disorders in the stomach include the presence of sharp and jabbing pain that feels like a slicing, knife-inflicted pain, the occurrence of a burning sensation, or a cramping and rigidity of the muscles of the stomach.

Gastritis is also a type of stomach disorder, and this condition is marked by the presence of aching and swelling along the internal lining of the stomach. The acidity of the stomach can be heightened by the consumption of different substances, which may irritate the lining along the stomach, and these include beverages such as coffee, drinks containing alcohol and the smoking.

Natural, Herbal Treatments For Stomach Pain

Lower Back Pain Remedies - Chinese Style

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), with its 2500 year old history, offers many lower back pain remedies - lower back stretches, lower back strengthening exercises, massage techniques, acupuncture, herbal remedies,
liniments, sticking plasters
and others. Some require a trained TCM practitioner to administer them, while others can be easily learnt and applied by anyone. This article introduces the latter - simple, effective lower back pain remedies and stretches for lower back pain that YOU can apply yourself to relieve and prevent lower back pain.

Lower Back Stretches

Breath slowly, smoothly and deeply through your nose while doing the exercises.

Exercise 1. Lie on your back on a firm bed or the floor. Gently bring your knees up until they're above your abdominal
area. Spread your knees a little and grab the inside of your shins just below your knees, or the inside of your ankles if you can.
Inhale. As you exhale let your knees naturally fall further out to the side with
gravity. Focus your mind on your lower back (closing your eyes helps). Feel your inner thighs stretching and your lower back
relaxing. Hold the position for a few minutes as you continue to
breath slowly, smoothly and deeply. This exercise stretches and relaxes your iliopsoas muscle which connects from your lumbar
vertebrae to the inside of your hip joints. Tension in this muscle often causes and/or aggravates lower back pain.

Exercise 2. Lie flat on your back on a firm bed or the floor. Bend your knees and slide your feet up till they are near your
backside. Inhale. As you exhale, flatten your lower back by gently pressing it into the bed
or floor. Hold for several seconds, then let your lower back return to its natural, curved position. Repeat 3 or 4 times, several
times a day.

Exercise 3. Lean across a table and grab the far edge with both hands. Your torso should be on the table and your legs
hanging from the edge. Inhale. As you exhale, let gravity naturally pull your legs down towards the floor. Feel your lower back
stretching. Hold the position for several minutes as you continue slow, deep breathing. Focus your mind on your lower back
(closing your eyes helps) and imagine the pain releasing with each exhalation. Repeat several times a day.

They are generally caused due to vitiation of the kapha dosha, which is the body element that coordinates the earth and water elements of the body. Hence a person with ear problems must take care not to aggravate the kapha dosha further.

The cold season is generally associated with ear problems. In some people, ear aches infections are associated with common colds which are caused at the onset of the winter months. The formation of pus is mostly associated with children. This is a severe case of ear infection which must be treated promptly. When there is a pus infection, there will be cough and most likely the child will also have fever. This is due to vitiation of the kapha dosha.

Useful Herbs for the Treatment of Ear Infections and Aches

- Bael (Aegle marmelos) The root of the bael tree is used in a unique manner to treat ear problems. A stiff root of the tree is dipped in neem oil and it is lighted. The oil dripping from this root is allowed to fall into the ear. This brings about tremendous relief in ear aches and infections.

- Bishop's Weed (Trachyspermum ammi) Bishop's weed is very effective in treating ear congestions. About a teaspoonful quantity of it is heated in 30 milliliters of milk. The juice of the weed is allowed to permeate into the milk. This is then used as ear drops.

- Holy Basil (Ocimum sanctum) The holy basil, or tulsi as it is called in Hindi, is beneficial for ear problems. The juice extracted from its leaves must be used as ear drops. It has added benefits in children who are suffering from ear problems.

- Neem (Azadirachta indica) Neem has antiseptic properties due to which it can kill the organisms that produce the infections in the ear. It is effective by itself. In order to enhance its effects, it can be taken with bael root as mentioned earlier.

Dietary Treatments for Ear Infections and Aches

The diet taken by a patient with ear problems should be such that it does not vitiate the kapha dosha, which is responsible for them. The following dietary guidelines must be followed:-

- Sour foods must be avoided as they vitiate the kapha. These include curds and fruits that are sour in taste.

- Bananas, watermelons, oranges, papayas and cucumbers must be avoided. These foods can increase the chances of having common cold. This would aggravate the ear problem. For the same reason, all refrigerated foods must also be avoided.

- Valuable foods during ear problems are onion, ginger and garlic. Turmeric is also very good, and must be used for spicing the meals.

Ayurvedic Treatments for Ear Infections and Aches

Most ear problems are treated with Lakshmi Vilas rasa. This is prescribed for both adults and children. In adults, the dose is one pill thrice daily. It is a bitter pill, so to reduce its bitterness it is taken with honey. In children, the dosage is reduced.

For external use, Nirgundi is prescribed. The extract of the nirgundi oil is boiled with mustard oil. The solution is used as external drops for the ear. The drops are generally prescribed to be used twice daily.

Home Remedies for Ear Infections and Aches

- Make a fine mixture of turmeric and burnt alum (alum that has been allowed to swell). Introduce this mixture slowly into the ear.

- Mixing Indian barberry and honey in mother's milk and putting it in infected ears provides benefits.

- Put a little fenugreek in cow's milk. This can be used to put as drops into the infected ears.

- The paste of the bilwa root is boiled with mustard oil. After filtering, this oil is used as ear drops.

- A single piece of clove is sautéed in sesame oil. Three to four drops of this is put into the ear. This method gives immense relief in ear problems.

- One simple remedy is to use extract of ginger as eardrops. The juice of the onion can also be used in a similar fashion, but it must be warmed.

Ear infections could be itchy or painful. Hence there is a tendency that the child will scratch the ear or put their fingers in the Eustachian tube. This must strictly be avoided as the dirt on the fingers will aggravate the infection further. Also, by doing so, the person is increasing the chances of infection to others.

People with ear problems must take care to keep themselves away from the cold as much as possible. They must avoid having baths till the ear problems are treated. They must wear warm clothes and avoid eating cold foods.

Knee Ache Remedies - Ways to Heal the Hurt - Special Report on Effective Knee Supports

Chances are, at one time or another, everyone will search for knee ache remedies. Maybe you can relate.

The knee is one of the largest and most complicated joints in the human body. We use our knees for just about ever activity we perform. Even when we are sitting still, there can be pressure on the knee joint. Consequently, knee aches are nearly inevitable-and when the pain starts, knee ache remedies are a sought after commodity.

Many knee ache remedies are non-invasive and can provide temporary relief without too much inconvenience. Each such remedy has its advantages and disadvantages. Some to consider are as follows:

Ice/Heat: Ice therapy can be particularly helpful within the first 24 to 48 hours after a traumatic knee injury and there is swelling present, after which it is recommended that heat be applied instead (by some medical professionals). An ice pack can be applied to the area that is aching or swelling, but should never be applied directly to the skin, and should always be wrapped in a cloth or other protective covering. Similarly, with heat application, you should always have a protective layer between the skin and the heat source, making certain that the heat source is not hot enough to burn the skin underneath. When using heat, the temperature should be comfortably warm, but not hot enough to cause discomfort or redness over the area. However, whether using ice or heat, these knee ache remedies are temporary, and can be somewhat inconvenient. Ice and/or heat should be applied every 4 to 6 hours, and will not cure the underlying problem, but will only provide some degree of relief.

Rest: Of course one of the most effective knee ache remedies is rest. Simply avoiding the activity that aggravates your knee aches may offer relief from the pain. However, this is not always a practical solution. The activity that aggravates your knee pain may be related to your job or other unavoidable obligation, and rest is simply not an option. Plus, the amount of rest you need may vary considerably depending upon the severity of the pain and, consequently, may not be a practical knee ache remedy depending upon your particular circumstances.

Elevation: If you knee is swollen, then elevation may be one of the appropriate knee ache remedies to consider. Resting with your knee elevated helps reduce the swelling and the consequent ache. Again, though, this may not always be practical given your particular circumstances.

Over-The-Counter Medication: Over-the-counter medication, such ibuprofen, acetaminophen or naproxen, may one of the knee ache remedies to consider. However, every mediation, even those sold over the counter, has side effects, and should be used sparingly, with caution. Since these types of medication likely provide only temporary relief, the temptation may be to overuse them, which, in the long run, may add to your problems.

Knee Braces: Knee Braces are one of the most effective and longest lasting of all the non-invasive knee ache remedies available. A knee brace is simple to use, and is available in a variety of styles which can be adjusted to fit your knee. Even if the knee is swollen, many knee braces can be adjusted and re-adjusted accordingly, as the swelling diminishes. A knee brace helps to support the knee, helping to take the pressure and stress off of the joint and also helps keep the knee in a proper position, even when in use. Consequently, when used properly, a brace can help to significantly reduce your aches and pains for an extended period of time with no adverse side effects. Further, knee supports are convenient to use, readily available and relatively affordable.

When you stop and think about it for a second, now, these supports can be the one thing that you never considered before... This might just be the turning point for you to help you get moving again with confidence and pain reduction in your very near future.

Ear Aches What Causes Them? Natural Remedies & Information

There are many forms of ear ache. Most of these causes are the result of the
inflammation of the middle or inner ear. One common inflammatory condition of
the middle ear is Otitis Media. This inflammation is caused by an infection on
the middle ear. It can occur in one or both ears. Statistical data shows
that otitis media is the most frequent diagnosis affecting children who visit
pediatricians. This disease is also the most common cause of hearing loss in
children. Occasionally, otitis media also affects adults.

The seriousness of ear infections cause severe ear ache. If the infection is
not arrested, this may develop to hearing loss. Ear infections can also be
serious if they spread to the other systems inside the head.

The air inside a healthy middle ear has the same atmospheric pressure with the
outside of the ear. This equalization allows free vibration. Yawning may
produce equalization when there is an imbalance in pressure if the eustachian
tube sends a tiny air bubble to precisely equalize air pressure. The
eustachian tube connects the back of the nose to the ear. It is important for
ear pressure to be equalized to the outside of the ear. An unequal pressure
may cause slight ear aches.

When the eustachian tube is blocked during a cold, an allergic reaction, or
an upper respiratory tract infection, this may lead to the accumulation of pus
and mucus at the back of the ear drum. The presence of bacteria and virus will
lead to infection. This infection is called otitis media. This causes an
uncomfortable ear ache, plus swelling and redness. If the fluids remain in the
middle ear, a condition called serous otitis media occurs. This condition
becomes chronic and can last a long time, sometimes lasting months or years.
This results in several subsequent infections and may cause more ear aches and
hearing difficulties.

The supplements containing multivitamins and minerals together with cod-liver
oil can reduce rates of ear infections in children, according to a clinical
trial published in the Annals of Otology, Rhinology and Laryngology in 2002.
Children with ear infections showed that they found lower concentrations of
vitamin A, selenium, and a fatty acid called eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA).
Thus, there is reason to believe that vitamin A, selenium and EPA would help in
the prevention of ear infections that lead to ear ache.

The Stomach Ache - What Does Is It Feel Like?

It is amazing how little most people know about stomach pain. I mean, everybody gets them and some people get them severely and most often.

A stomach ache is basically a symptom that is caused by a disorder in your stomach or intestines. How does it feel to most people? It can feel like:

  • A sharp jabbing pain
  • A stabbing pain (like being stabbed in the pit of the stomach with a knife)
  • A burning pain
  • A slicing pain
  • A cramping pain
  • A combination of any of the above
I'm sure there are more ways to describe different types of stomach pain, but these are the most common types.

What Are Some Natural Ways To Get Rid Of A (Or Reoccurring) Stomach Ache?

Okay, if you are prone to stomach aches, controlling and getting rid of them is a very serious issue to you. There are plenty of medicines on the shelves designed for this, but I want to give you some natural, harmless ways.

First of all, if you are having reoccurring, severe stomach pain, I suggest you see your doctor to make sure it isn't something serious. However, it is often that doctors can't find the reason that many people have continued stomach problems. So you have to resolve the problem yourself. That was my case, and the good news is that I resolved my continuing stomach problems.

Here are some natural ways to cure your stomach pain:

  • Try a teaspoon of peppermint oil.
  • Try a teaspoon of fennel oil.
  • Try peppermint tea.
  • Try fennel tea.
  • Try chamomile tea.
These oils and teas should be very affective. However, the surest way to get rid of those stomach aches for good is to get to the root of the problem by correcting and healing your whole digestive system, as I did.

Tooth Ache Remedy While on Vacation

While many suffer from nausea while on the seas or jetlag after flying across the country, a tooth ache is one of the worst pains to get while you are on vacation. Not only can the pain be excruciatingly painful, but it is one of the biggest reasons why a vacation is ruined. If you have the first signs of an infected tooth, then it would be best to postpone the trip or get an appointment with your dentist immediately. Make sure that the dentist prescribes you a prescription pain reliever that you can take with you. Do not ignore the pain and hope that you can ignore it with all of the exciting activities going on. A tooth ache will only get worse with time, and you will not be able to ignore the pain for very long.

If you are flying, then you are much more susceptible to a painful tooth. This is due to the barometric pressure that you encounter when you are up in the air. If you have ever been on a plane then you probably remember that your ears will pop as you go higher and higher into the atmosphere. If you already have an inner ear infection or a sinus problem, then the pressure from your ears will only accumulate into your jaw, causing a tooth ache. If you have dental work done prior to flying, then it is recommended that you stay away from flying for a certain amount of time. Being higher in the atmosphere can cause your new incision to bleed.

While there are certain dental insurance providers that will cover international practitioners and other traveling situations, it is best to stick with a dentist that you know and trust. Try to avoid eating foods that can cause an irritated tooth. Popcorn is one of the leading causes, as well as extremely cold foods. Do not forget to pack a toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss for your trip. This will help prevent you from having any type of tooth pain. You will have to check with some flight companies before you pack. Many planes will not allow toothpaste. However, baking soda is allowed, which is an excellent alternative to tooth paste.

While you might have already done so, make sure to pack an extra strength Tylenol for the trip. This will not only help relieve the pain of a possible tooth ache, but any pains that could occur. There are also direct medications that you can apply to the tooth which will numb the area. Any antiseptic that contains Benzocaine will work fine. Remember to never place aspirin directly on your gums, because this can cause your gums to be burned.

The lingering question is if you should seek the help of a dentist while you are in another country or area of your country. If it is an emergency that you are not able to cure with basic remedies, then it is crucial that you seek the help of a professional. Some tooth aches are too severe for you to wait until you arrive back home. While abroad, your dental insurance provider can recommend other practitioners that are under the same coverage and who are reliable.
